One of the commonest birds in London, well adapted to life in the city, living in parks, gardens, woodlands and wasteland habitats.  Fiercely territorial, the males are active singers – often throughout the night in well-lit areas – to both repel competing males and attract females.

Look out for robins on a London Nature Trail at:

• Silkstream Park, Rushgrove Park and Welsh Harp (Brent) Reservoir on the walk from Burnt Oak to Wembley

• Camley Street Natural Park and Primrose Hill on the walk from Swiss Cottage to King’s Cross

• Russia Dock Woodland and Stave Hill Ecology Park on the walk from Bermondsey to Brockley

• London Blossom Garden, the UP Garden and Wanstead Flats on the walk from Wanstead to Royal Docks
